Working with Words

This will be my first article for Myblogpost, writing on the subject that consumes most of my waking life,(and some of my non-awake time, though nightmares about writing projects and dead-lines are a matter better left to discussions with my mental health professional) anyway…

I love writing, and I could ramble on forever about how exhilarating and exhausting it is to finally have my dream and my career be one and the same.

I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, but earning a living at it never seemed like a practical possibility. Until I discovered the world of “On-line Freelance Writing”, or rather it discovered me.

I spent a great many years freelancing occasionally, while I earned what passed as a living as a childcare provider. (Again, it is another subject that I could ramble on and on about, but won’t, except to say that it seemed like a good idea at the time).

Finally, after a few years, I found a way to devote myself to writing on a full time basis, and still keep my kids fed and clothed.

Writing sites, there are so many out there! As the World Wide Web grows and changes, the need for words to fill it up also grows and changes. If you do a Google on the term “freelance writing work”, you get back over 2,400,000 results. That seems like a great many doesn’t it? But there are plenty of writers out there just looking for those jobs. From all over the world, writers are competing for the work. Talent alone will not secure the job for you either, sometimes, the writer willing to work for the least amount of pay will win the project.

Searching for jobs, submitting a resume, placing a bid, writing new examples, they take up a great deal of time and focus. But when you find a project that is on a subject you are familiar with, or passionate about, then getting that job is an awesome feeling.

Finishing the job, and getting paid feels pretty good as well.

I will be providing information for you about the many various aspects of freelance writing.

Such as topics like these:

  • Which writing sites are the best, and the worst.
  • How to make your search for work less time consuming and less stressful.
  • How to write a winning bid for a project.
  • Ways to keep your clients coming back to you.

Writing as a career has quite a few directions that you could take; writing web content is not the only option. There are plenty of off line print publications that advertise on the web when they need a good writer. One of the goals that I hope to achieve with Myblogpost is to help other writers find the way to achieve their dream of earning a living at what they love best.

Other topics will come up, and I will offer you my opinion, based on my experience with said topic.

I hope that you will freely comment on my posts, tell me what you want to know, and what you think about the world of freelance writing.
