The Island

You have probably never heard of the island. But all of my family and most of my associates are very familiar with the Island. The Island doesn’t have a name. That’s because its name is unimportant. It is always referred to in a revered voice as the Island. Its climate is tropical and the sky is cloudless and blue which matches the shade of water washing up on the white sand beach. The term all inclusive was invented from a place such as this. No one ages on this island and the women there make the Sports Illustrated swimsuit models look like trolls.

Now why am I describing the Island to you? As a male you might refer to it as Fantasy Island but that conjures up way to many clichés, but I’m hoping you’re getting the idea. The Island is important for this single reason. I created it as the ultimate place on earth and while women have never been inducted or promoted to the Island, they are certainly in abundance.

Now the reason I bring this up is that probably at some point in the future, the Island will be referred to. Let me give you an example. The first person that I personally put on the Island was the guy who invented the Weed Eater. The hours I spent out in the yard with that stupid scissor like device whose sole purpose besides chewing off grass beyond the reach any normal lawn mower was to create fist sized blisters on the palms and fingers of your hands. That man right there deserves to be on the Island. I’m sure he’s kicked back on the beach, sipping a nice cold Corona and figuring out which women on the beach are worth his favor. I’m all good with that, because in my book the man deserves it. He’s on the Island.

Another guy who was promoted to the Island is the guy who invented the twist off bottle cap. That man deserves to be on the Island with my heartfelt thanks. I have no problem with him there. He earned it. Think of the wildlife alone that this man single handedly saved with his invention. Do any of the animal rights people revere this man? I think not. But he’s there, because we recognize his contribution to society.

I may have to start a member’s only list as I know I’ve forgotten a few. If you can think of any that I missed, please feel free to nominate them. After all, success should have some rewards. So why am I discussing this? Because surely one day, there may come a time when we will elevate someone from the technology world to the Island. You never know.
