Should you rely on your blog income?

Hmmm. should you? I wouldn’t and I tell you, you shouldn’t too. It is a risky deal to hang on to your blog for an income. Let us explore this in detail.

First, what are the ways one can earn with a blog? Link Sales, Paid reviews and Banner Ads are some of the most popular ways of pocketing good cash, enough to make a living.

Link Sales: Much of Link Sales is dependent on Google’s invincible potion called PageRank. It indeed is powerful. Your income has a direct relation with your PageRank number. If you have a PageRank of 6 or 7 or above, you can consider yourself a rich man, while a lower PageRank will get you income in lower figures. So, say you have a PageRank of 7 and you have a popular blog and are selling each link at $200/month. 10 links fetch you a good $2000.

Lessons Learned, Lead To Money Earned

When I first started writing for a living online, I really had no idea what I was doing. I was naïve, and I was uncertain of my chances, but I was compelled to try anyway. It was either try to earn some money with my writing, or get a regular job somewhere and never have the time to do any writing at all. I’d done that before, didn’t like the idea of going down that road again. For me, and probably many other writers out there, not writing is pretty much the same as going insane. The words are always there, and putting them to paper is the only way to get any peace.

So, the first thing I did was gather up some of my long forgotten works, clean them up a bit, and send them on their way to earn me fortune and fame. Ha! The ones that bothered to come back at all came with their tails between their legs. REJECTED. The others just disappeared into cyber space, where they were probably sent straight into spam obscurity.

Don’t waste your time with the Google PageRank!

What a day! Every blog I visit is talking about the PR Buzz. “Google Takes a U Turn” “My Google PR has turned -3 negative”, “Google this, Google that”. Give me a break guys.

First off, it is a mistake to put all eggs in one basket. The wise will never do it. Take a look at JohnChow.com. He is least bit bothered. Read his post on the PR downgrade. You will see what I mean.

@#*$P*# Litterbugs!

Let me set the stage for you. Every day I park my vehicle on a service road and walk about a mile to work. I traded my brief case for a backpack because I couldn’t figure out how to get any exercise in my schedule. Plus the place where I work sits on a huge hill. So every morning about 7:30am, I’m out there plodding along. It takes me about 10 minutes give or take to cover that distance. (Alright it’s only ¾ of a mile, happy?). In ten minutes, you can ponder a lot of heavy duty stuff. Today’s subject is one of my pet peeves, littering.
